This could then result in an emergency landing or loss of control of the airplane.\n\n\t(d)\tWhat must I do to address this problem?: To address this problem, you must accomplish the replacement, records check, and/or installation prohibition requirements explained below, as applicable: \n\n\t\t(1)\tReplacement Requirement \n\n\t\t\t(i)\tWhat action is required?: Replace any Fuel Selector Valve Cam part number 0513123, or Fuel Selector Valve part number 0513120-5, 0513120-6, 0513120-8, 0513120-9, or 0513120-200, that Cessna shipped from December 6, 1998, through May 10, 1999. Paragraphs (d)(2)(i) and (d)(2)(ii) of this AD provide procedures for checking the maintenance records to determine if one of these fuel selector valve cams or fuel selector valves is installed. \n\n\t\t\t(ii)\tWhat procedures must be used?: The procedures contained in Cessna Service Bulletin SEB99-7, dated June 7, 1999, and the applicable maintenance manual. \n\n\t\t\t(iii)\tWhen is the action required?: Within the next 10 hours TIS after the effective date of this AD. \n\t\t(2)\tMaintenance Records Check \n\n\t\t\t(i)\tMay the pilot check the maintenance records to determine if thisAD applies?: Yes. The owner/operator holding at least a private pilot certificate as authorized by section 43.7 of the Federal Aviation Regulations (14 CFR 43.7) may check the maintenance records to determine whether one of the affected fuel selector valve cams or fuel selector valves was installed after December 6, 1998. \n\n\t\t\t(ii)\tWhat if the maintenance records show that no affected fuel selector valve cam or fuel selector valve is installed?: If, by checking the maintenance records, the pilot can positively show that a Fuel Selector Valve Cam part number 0513123, or Fuel Selector Valve part number 0513120-5, 0513120-6, 0513120-8, 0513120-9, or 0513120-200, is not installed or was installed prior to December 6, 1998, then the replacement requirement of paragraph (b) of this AD does not apply. You must make an entry into the aircraft records that shows compliance with this portion of the AD, in accordance with section 43.9 of the Federal Aviation Regulations (14 CFR 43.9).(3)\tInstallation Prohibition Requirements\n\n\t\t\t(i)\tWhat prevents these parts from being installed in the future?: You may not install a Fuel Selector Valve Cam part number 0513123 or Fuel Selector Valve part number 0513120-5, 0513120-6, 0513120-8, 0513120-9, or 0513120-200; that Cessna shipped from December 6, 1998, through May 10, 1999, in any of the affected airplanes.\n\n\t\t\t(ii)\tWhen does this prohibition go into effect?: As of the effective date of this AD. \n\n\t(e)\tCan I comply with this AD in any other way?: Yes. \n\n\t\t(1)\tYou may use an alternative method of compliance or adjust the compliance time if: \n\n\t\t\t(i)\tYour alternative method of compliance provides an equivalent level of safety; and \n\n\t\t\t(ii)\tThe Manager, Wichita Aircraft Certification Office, approves your alternative. Submit your request through an FAA Principal Maintenance Inspector, who may add comments and then send it to the Manager. \n\n\t\t(2)\tThis AD applies to each airplane identified in the preceding applicability provision, regardless of whether it has been modified, altered, or repaired in the area subject to the requirements of this AD. For airplanes that have been modified, altered, or repaired so that the performance of the requirements of this AD is affected, the owner/operator must request approval for an alternative method of compliance in accordance with paragraph (e)(1) of this AD. The request should include an assessment of the effect of the modification, alteration, or repair on the unsafe condition addressed by this AD; and, if the unsafe condition has not been eliminated, the request should include specific proposed actions to address it. \n\n\t(f)\tWhere can I get information about any already-approved alternative methods of compliance?: Contact the Wichita Aircraft Certification Office, 1801 Airport Road, Room 100, Mid-Continent Airport, Wichita, Kansas, 67209; telephone: (316) 946-4143; facsimile: (316) 946-4407. \n\n\t(g)\tWhat if I need to fly the airplane toanother location to comply with this AD?: The FAA can issue a special flight permit under sections 21.197 and 21.199 of the Federal Aviation Regulations (14 CFR 21.197 and 21.199) to operate your airplane to a location where you can accomplish the requirements of this AD. \n\n\t(h)\tAre any service bulletins incorporated into this AD by reference?: Yes. You must accomplish the actions required by this AD in accordance with Cessna Service Bulletin SEB99-7, dated June 7, 1999. The Director of the Federal Register approved this incorporation by reference under 5 U.S.C. 552(a) and 1 CFR part 51. You can get copies from the Cessna Aircraft Company, Product Support, P.O.
