Chapter 12: Account Settings

Overview

Your account settings control your profile information, preferences, and security settings. This chapter covers how to manage your Aircraft-logs.com account.


Accessing Account Settings

  1. Click your name or avatar in the top-right corner
  2. Select User Profile from the dropdown
  3. You'll see your profile and settings page

Profile Information

Email Address

Your email is used for:
- Logging in
- Password reset
- Notifications
- Support communications

To change your email:
1. Go to your profile
2. Enter the new email address
3. Enter your current password (for verification)
4. Click Save Changes
5. Verify the new email address via the confirmation link

Name

Your first and last name appear in:
- Your profile
- Navigation menu
- Some reports

To update:
1. Edit the First Name and/or Last Name fields
2. Click Save Changes


Preferences

Time Zone

Your time zone affects:
- How dates and times are displayed
- Notification timing
- Schedule calculations

To change:
1. Select your time zone from the dropdown
2. Options include all US time zones
3. Click Save Changes

Date Format

Choose how dates appear throughout the application:

Option Example
MM/DD/YYYY (American) 01/15/2024
YYYY/MM/DD (ISO) 2024/01/15
DD-MM-YYYY (European) 15-01-2024

To change:
1. Select your preferred format
2. Click Save Changes

Photo Upload Mode

Simplifies the logbook entry form for quick photo-based record keeping.

When enabled:
- New logbook entries show only the date and file upload fields
- Detail sections (description, hours, work items, etc.) are hidden by default
- A description is auto-generated as "Photo upload - [date]" if left blank
- You can expand to full details on any entry using the "Photo upload only" toggle

To enable/disable:
1. Toggle the Photo Upload Mode switch
2. Click Save Changes

Email Frequency

Control how often you receive notifications:

Options:
- Daily: Daily digest of upcoming items
- Weekly: Weekly summary
- Monthly: Monthly summary
- Never: No automated emails

To change:
1. Select your preference
2. Click Save Changes


Password Management

Changing Your Password

  1. Go to your profile
  2. Enter your Current Password
  3. Enter your New Password
  4. Enter Password Confirmation
  5. Click Save Changes

Password requirements:
- Minimum 6 characters
- Mix of letters, numbers, and symbols recommended

Forgot Password

If you forget your password:

  1. Go to the login page
  2. Click Forgot your password?
  3. Enter your email address
  4. Check your email for the reset link
  5. Click the link and create a new password

Data Management

Exporting Your Data

You can export all your data at any time:

  1. Click your profile menu
  2. Select Extract or Backup
  3. A JSON file downloads containing all your data

The export includes:
- All aircraft
- All logbook entries
- All components
- All ADs
- All schedules
- Account settings

Importing Data

To import previously exported data:

  1. Click your profile menu
  2. Select Import
  3. Upload your JSON backup file
  4. Data is merged with existing records

Note: Import adds to existing data; it doesn't replace it.

Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. If you cancel:
- Data is retained for 30 days
- Export your data before cancellation
- Contact support for extensions


Account Security

Login Security

  • Use a strong, unique password
  • Don't share your password
  • Log out on shared computers

Session Management

Sessions automatically expire after extended inactivity. To manually log out:

  1. Click your profile menu
  2. Click Log out

Two-Factor Authentication

(If available)
- Adds extra security to your account
- Requires a code in addition to password
- Configure in security settings


Account Actions

Viewing Subscription Status

From your profile, you can see:
- Current subscription plan
- Number of aircraft
- Billing period
- Next payment date

Click Manage Subscription for more options.

Updating Payment Method

  1. Go to Billing settings
  2. Click Update Payment Method
  3. Enter new card information
  4. Save changes

Contacting Support

For account issues:
- Email: support@aircraft-logs.com
- Include your account email
- Describe the issue clearly


Privacy

Your Data

  • Your data belongs to you
  • We don't sell your information
  • Data is used only to provide the service
  • Export your data anytime

AI Conversations

  • Conversations are private to you
  • Not used to train AI models
  • Stored securely
  • Deleted if you close your account

Deleting Your Account

Warning: Account deletion is permanent.

If you need to delete your account:

  1. Export your data first (backup)
  2. Contact support@aircraft-logs.com
  3. Request account deletion
  4. Confirm your identity
  5. Account and all data will be removed

Before deleting:
- Export all data
- Cancel any active subscription
- Consider just downgrading instead


Troubleshooting Account Issues

Can't Log In

  1. Verify you're using the correct email
  2. Check caps lock
  3. Try password reset
  4. Clear browser cache
  5. Try a different browser

Not Receiving Emails

  1. Check spam/junk folder
  2. Add noreply@aircraft-logs.com to contacts
  3. Verify email address is correct
  4. Check email frequency settings

Settings Not Saving

  1. Ensure you click "Save Changes"
  2. Check for error messages
  3. Try refreshing the page
  4. Clear browser cache
