Getting Started

  1. Go to Fleet > Add Aircraft
  2. Enter your N-number (without the "N")
  3. The system will search the FAA database
  4. Verify the auto-populated information
  5. Click Save Aircraft

See Chapter 4: Aircraft Management for detailed instructions.

Can I import my existing records?

Currently, you need to enter records manually or use the data import feature with a previously exported JSON file. We're working on import tools for common formats.

How many aircraft can I add?

There's no limit on the number of aircraft. Each aircraft is billed separately at $15/month (billed annually).

Logbook Entries

What should I include in a logbook entry?

Include:
- Date of the work
- Description of what was done
- Parts used (with part numbers)
- Mechanic name and shop
- Current hours (tach/hobbs)
- Any relevant attachments

See Chapter 5: Logbook Entries for best practices.

Can I edit an entry after saving?

Yes, you can edit any logbook entry:
1. Navigate to the entry
2. Click Edit
3. Make your changes
4. Save

How do I add a signature to an entry?

  1. In the logbook entry form, find the Signature section
  2. Click "Add Signature"
  3. Draw the signature on the canvas

Can I attach documents to entries?

Yes! You can attach images and PDFs. The system automatically extracts text from images using OCR, making the content searchable.

Airworthiness Directives

How do I find ADs for my aircraft?

ADs are automatically discovered when you add an aircraft. You can also:
1. Go to Aircraft > Airworthiness Directives
2. Click Search FAA ADs
3. Search by make/model or AD number

How do I record AD compliance?

The best way is to:
1. Create a logbook entry describing the work
2. Add a work item
3. Link the work item to the AD
4. The AD updates automatically when you save

See Chapter 7: Airworthiness Directives for details.

What if an AD doesn't apply to my aircraft?

  1. Navigate to the AD
  2. Click Edit
  3. Change the Tracking Status to "Not Applicable"
  4. Add a comment explaining why (serial number range, modification, etc.)
  5. Save

How are AD due dates calculated?

Based on the monitor type:
- Lifetime: No recurring due date
- Years: Last compliance date + duration in years
- Time: Last compliance hours + duration in hours
- Both: Whichever comes first

Components

What should I track as components?

Track items that have their own maintenance requirements:
- Engines
- Propellers
- Major avionics
- Life-limited parts
- Items with TBO requirements

How do I organize components?

Use the parent-child hierarchy:
- Set parent components (e.g., Engine as parent)
- Add child components (e.g., Magnetos under Engine)
- This groups related items together

How do I update component hours?

  1. Link logbook entries to components
  2. Hours update from linked entries
  3. Or edit the component directly to update hours

Documents & OCR

What file types can I upload?

  • Images: JPG, PNG, GIF
  • Documents: PDF

How does OCR work?

When you upload an image:
1. The system processes it automatically
2. Text is extracted and stored
3. You can view and edit the extracted text
4. The text becomes searchable

Why is my OCR text incorrect?

OCR works best with:
- Clear, high-resolution images
- Good lighting
- Typed text (handwriting is harder)
- Straight alignment

You can edit OCR text to correct errors.

How many OCR pages do I get?

Your subscription includes 50 OCR pages per month. Additional pages can be purchased.
